Meet Emajean, one of our medical fosters. Back in mid-March, Emajean was a young, feral cat found at the back porch doorstep of a rescue colleague. She couldn’t move, had obvious broken bones, grossly infected sores, and looked gravely ill. We took her to our rescue vet. Given the oil and grease in her hair and wounds, it was determined she likely had got caught in a car engine when it started while sleeping to stay warm. She was septic, had a broken mandible, broken leg, and multiple breaks in her paws. Since she was a feral, most people would have euthanized her. However, remember this cat was found in a BACKYARD at a doorstep… She came seeking help! So that is what we did.. we helped her! Three months later and she still has a lot of recovery, and potentially a permanent limp, but she still has her leg that we feared we may need to amputate, and she is a total love bug once she trusts you!
